Governor Maggie Hassan and U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today announced that seven New Hampshire projects will receive grant funding from the Northern Border Regional Commission to help spur economic and community development in the North Country.

EPA has proposed modifications to the draft General Permits for Stormwater Discharges from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) in New Hampshire based on comments received. These proposed modifications both clarify and increase flexibility to the permit requirements by aligning it more closely with New Hampshire State Standards. The sections with the proposed modifications are now open for public comment until November 2, 2015.

Veterans in need of accessibility improvements or repairs to their home can now access funding to help with the needed work. A new program from the New Hampshire Homebuilders Association called Hammers for Veterans has been formed, and it recently received $25,000 in funding from New Hampshire Housing

The Railroad Street area of Keene, known for its mix of housing and commercial space, is adding more housing to the mix. Westmill Senior Housing, which is sponsored by Southwestern Community Services (SCS), received a commitment of federal HOME funds and Low Income Housing Tax Credits through New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority. The funds provide needed resources in order to begin construction.

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) announced today that the package of transportation and safety legislation (H.R. 22) that the Senate is debating this week includes several measures she championed to support New Hampshire priorities. As a member of the Commerce Committee, which approved provisions of the highway bill last week, Ayotte successfully included amendments to help New Hampshire combat drug-impaired driving -- including driving under the influence of heroin and prescription opioids -- and help establish state infrastructure banks

During a Senate Commerce Committee hearing on Wednesday, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) secured a commitment from Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Administrator nominee Marie Therese Dominguez that if confirmed, she will visit New Hampshire and listen to local residents' concerns regarding the safety of Kinder Morgan's proposed Northeast Energy Direct natural gas pipeline. Ayotte referenced these concerns while questioning Ms. Dominguez at today's hearing, and also stressed the need for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and PHMSA to work together to address safety concerns.
