Homeless services nonprofit selected as prize winner by Facebook users

BEDFORD, N.H. – February 15, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — New Hampshire Housing kicked off 2013 by hosting a virtual Visa gift card giveaway, and Families in Transition was named the winner by a public vote. Facebook users took to New Hampshire Housing’s Facebook page to cast their votes in favor of the homeless services provider receiving a $200 Visa gift card. The online giveaway was one of many efforts New Hampshire Housing makes throughout the year to support nonprofits that offer food, shelter, and other basic needs.

Families in Transition was one of five nonprofit organizations nominated by New Hampshire Housing staff to be spotlighted in the online Facebook poll. Other nominees included Bridges: Domestic and Sexual Violence Support; the New Hampshire Food Bank; Manchester Homeless Services Center; and New Horizons.

“We’re very excited that the online community supported Families in Transition in winning the gift card provided by New Hampshire Housing,” said Maureen Beauregard, Families in Transition President. “This was such a creative way for New Hampshire Housing to raise awareness of the work done by many worthy nonprofits. We’ll use the money to purchase much needed home essential items for our new property in Dover, New Hampshire.”

Families in Transition’s mission is to provide safe, affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect.
